  • When to Call 111

    Contact NHS 111 for mental health support when:

    • You feel you are no longer able to cope or stay in control.

    • You are experiencing an emotional, psychological, or rapid worsening of a mental state.

    • You are having distressing thoughts, but you are currently able to keep yourself safe for a short while

  • When to Call 999 or Go to A&E

    You should call 999 or visit your nearest hospital's A&E immediately if:

    • You or someone else is in immediate, life-threatening danger.

    • Someone has seriously harmed themselves, needs urgent physical treatment, or has taken an overdose.
